Introduction
Hello, I'm Ishan
Who I am, what I work on, and what this space is for.
Hi, I'm Ishan Rahul Surdi, a Computer Science undergraduate at MIT World Peace University in Pune, graduating in 2027. This is the first post on my site, so it is a short introduction before I start writing about the work itself.
What I work on
Most of my time goes into applied machine learning and research. I care about careful measurement: comparing methods against honest baselines, understanding where systems fail, and making results easy for someone else to check.
- Machine learning research: efficient neural networks and ML-driven scheduling for HPC and cloud systems. Two of these papers are currently under review.
- Quantum-inspired optimization: benchmarking quantum-inspired metaheuristics against classical algorithms.
- AI security: applying machine learning to detect security threats.
- Open-source engineering: as a Summer Research Fellow at FOSSEE, IIT Bombay, working on report generation for engineering software.
What I'll write about here
I plan to use this space for research notes, lessons from projects, and the practical details that rarely make it into papers or READMEs: what worked, what didn't, and why.
